January 9 marks a milestone for the new energy sector of Hainan Mining: 30,000 tons of lithium concentrate produced at the Bougouni Lithium Mine in Mali has arrived at Yangpu Port, Hainan.This batch of lithium concentrate will be supplied to Xingzhihai Lithium Salt Plant located in Yangpu New Materials Industrial Park, marking that Hainan Mining has truly formed a closed-loop integrated industrial chain of "high-quality owned mines + high-grade advanced processing production lines".

Notably, this shipment of lithium concentrate is the first batch of new energy minerals declared and imported into Yangpu Port under the zero-tariff policy following the implementation of Hainan’s whole-island customs closure.

As the core pillar of Hainan Mining’s layout in the new energy sector, the steady progress of Xingzhihai’s 20,000-ton annual capacity battery-grade lithium salt project (mainly used for cathode materials of power batteries in new energy vehicles) relies on the continuous supply of high-quality raw materials.

To break through the upstream resource bottleneck of the industrial chain, Hainan Mining acquired the controlling stake in the Bougouni Lithium Mine in Mali with an investment of US$118 million in 2023, a pivotal strategic move for its transformation from traditional mining to the new energy sector. After two years of development, the Bougouni Lithium Mine was successfully put into operation in 2025. The 30,000 tons of lithium concentrate arriving at the port this time is the first high-quality output of the mine, which will be directly delivered to Xingzhihai’s production lines, laying a solid resource foundation for the continuous and stable production of battery-grade lithium salt products.

Going forward, relying on the policy advantages of Hainan Free Trade Port and its own resource endowment, Hainan Mining will steadily import lithium concentrate from the Buguni Lithium Mine, complete processing in the Yangpu Port area, and ultimately supply high-purity battery-grade lithium salt products to the global market.The company will enhance its product market competitiveness through the synergy of the full industrial chain, and contribute to the development of the new energy industry in Hainan Free Trade Port.
