Roc Oil's Bajiaochang Gas Field has achieved another milestone: maintaining a stable daily natural gas output of 3.6 million cubic meters (MMCM) for a full month. The development of Well Pad 108 overcame multiple challenges and set several historical records, marking dual breakthroughs in both production capacity and technology while laying a solid foundation for sustained stable output.
Rapid Expansion of Dehydration & Compression Project (DPP) Boosts Processing Capacity
On January 22, 2025, the expansion of Bajiaochang’s Dehydration and Compression Project (DPP)—increasing gas processing capacity by 40%—was successfully completed and commissioned within just over four months, covering detailed design, equipment procurement, and construction. This upgrade effectively eliminated export bottlenecks. To date, the field has maintained safe and stable production at 3.6 MMCM/day for a full month, strongly supporting the achievement of 2025 production targets.
Since becoming the operator of the Bajiaochang project in 2021, Roc Oil has implemented innovative management models and integrated advanced technologies to efficiently complete drilling and well construction across multiple well pads. The rapid advancement of the DPP and LNG projects has boosted the field’s daily output from 860,000 cubic meters to the current 3.6 MMCM, earning high recognition from partners.
Well Pad 108 Overcomes Multiple Challenges, Setting New Records
In order to ensure sufficient gas source for DPP, the development of well group 108 will be emphasized in 2025. The development of this well group overcame multiple challenges, such as formation leakage, clumped borehole collision prevention, and difficulty in speeding up conventional drilling, innovatively used plugged anti-spill pipe to shorten operation time, improved time efficiency through non-stop drilling and slope measurement technology, realized the first application of grid power to significantly reduce carbon emissions, and reduced the time for connecting the column to 9.1 minutes by fine management, and efficiently dealt with two serious well leaks in only 41.5 hours.
The 108 well group was successfully completed on March 11, 2025, ahead of schedule. The well group efficiently completed the drilling of three horizontal wells with a construction period of 45.94 days, with a total footage of 12,881 meters, setting a number of historical records such as the longest horizontal section of a single well of 2,470 meters, the daily footage of the second opening of 1,268 meters, and the daily footage of the horizontal section of 753 meters.
